10-12 years – Female
When you first meet this quiet, unassuming little lady, you’re immediately struck by the sadness that is reflected in her eyes.
Virgo is believed to be somewhere in the region of 10 years old, and this is her second time in RSPCA care. Back in 2022 she was found abandoned in a garden with kittens, and it was later discovered that she had the early stages of kidney disease.
She went to a home, where she lived for almost four years, but has recently been returned due to her owner moving away.
While many cats, upon finding themselves back in the cattery, would be overwhelmed and stressed, Virgo just seems to accept her fate without complaint. It is as if she doesn’t expect much from life, and we desperately want to change that for her, as she deserves so much more.
While she keeps herself to herself, she does seem to appreciate human company but it is almost as if she doesn’t really know how to “be” around people. Sadly, Virgo is the kind of cat who easily gets overlooked and will retreat into the background, simply existing rather than thriving and enjoying life as every cat should.
So what are we seeking for her, going forward?
It goes without saying that she will need an understanding home with people who are calm and cat savvy. She needs a family who won’t expect too much from her initially but will help to build her trust and confidence with kindness and patience.
Virgo has previously lived with other cats and a dog so, while we wouldn’t advise a house that is very busy with other animals, she could potentially live with another cat or a gentle dog.
She will need to be able to enjoy safe, outdoor access in her new home, as she has always been used to being able to go outside, though we do always advise that cats be kept indoors after dark.
It does need to be borne in mind that Virgo does have CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) which does progress over time, however she is on medication to manage this. Whoever takes her must be prepared for the commitment of administering daily medication, and providing her with a specialist renal diet. We can offer support with this, which we will talk through with any interested applicants.
Virgo is currently in the care of RSPCA Worcester branch, so if you would like to know more or feel that you can offer her the perfect retirement home, please click the link below to complete their application form and one of the team will be in touch.
We can see that Virgo is a sweet, gentle soul who has lived much of her life unnoticed; we feel she deserves her chance to shine as she is a truly beautiful cat, both inside and out.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT AS VIRGO IS IN THE CARE OF RSPCA WORCESTER BRANCH, YOU WILL BE APPLYING DIRECTLY TO THEM AND ANY MEETS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THEIR REHOMING CENTRE NEAR KEMPSEY, WORCESTER.
