Autumn

3 years – Female

There is a sadness about Autumn that makes our hearts ache.

Found living stray, she was so tiny and underweight that she was initially thought to be very young, however our vets have aged her at approximately 3 years old.

Her worried eyes, coupled with the conditions in which she was found, tell a story of trauma. We don’t know what exactly happened to Autumn, nor how long she has been on the streets, and we can’t be sure if this is the only life she has known, or whether she once had a family but was then sadly abandoned.

Our suspicion is the latter.

In the area Autumn was found, lived an established colony of stray cats from whom she appeared ostracised. Autumn also came to us with an injury to her face, which was likely caused by an attack from another cat.

Had she had found herself dumped in the area, the other cats would most likely have become defensive, which could explain this. Also, when she was taken into her fosterer’s home, though scared and shut down, she readily accepted contact and even sat on their lap, suggesting that being in human company was not something new to her.

Now a resident of the cattery at our Worcester branch, Autumn hides in her bed, scared of the world.

She shows no signs of aggression; she is just wary, vulnerable and afraid of what she doesn’t understand. The team are making slow but steady progress with her, and as her confidence gradually grows, her sweet nature shines through.

What Autumn desperately needs is stability; a safe space where she can emotionally recover from her painful past.

She deserves to be surrounded by love, kindness and understanding, and so we are seeking a forever home that is calm and quiet, with people who are patient enough to allow her to decompress and adjust in her own time.

So, specifically…what are we looking for?

Given Autumn’s particular needs and history, no other animals please – and either a home that is adult-only or one with older, cat-savvy children who are calm, quiet and will respect and understand her boundaries.

Autumn will need safe outdoor access once she has settled in, so a home that is away from busy roads with a garden is being sought, ideally with not too many neighbouring cats who may encroach upon her area of sanctuary.
